Daughter of Benedict

5' 8", with a lean, dancer's build, Catherina (kat er een a) has lighthoney colored hair bleached by the sun to produce a rich texture of goldand red highlights. Her colors: silver and green, were chosen to matchher eyes, which are a cat-like greenish grey.
101 years old? She was born right after Benedict left Avalon to returnto Amber and fight the Pattern Fall War.
Catherina was brought back to Amber after the Patternfall war by herfather, Benedict at an early age. She picked up the nickname of Caddy atthe age of 11 for her habit of following her father around with his sword,a thing which, surprisingly, he did not discourage. In fact, Benedict oftentook his younge daughter with him when he travelled in shadow.
Note** Very few people call Catherina, Caddy. Her father does. Her brother Michael in Avalon does. Everyone else can try, but most likelythey'll get a blank, unresponsive look. If someone asks what they can callher, her response will be "Catherina." She also will not answer to "Cat."Quiet, dependable and predictable, Catherina is usually quite easy to geta hold of. If she's not in Amber, she's in Avalon. If she's not in Avalon, she's with Benedict. If she's not with Benedict and he doesn't know whereshe is, she's probably in trouble.
Catherina isn't as deathly serious as Benedict is, but she's still alittle grim and she doesn't talk much more than her father does. An adeptstudent of war, Catherina will occasionaly follow Benedict when he goesout into Shadow: he doesn't ask her to go, nor does he say she can't, soshe does. Whether it is more for the opportunity to learn or for a chanceto spend time with her father is anyone's guess. She's never been inclinedto say.
Being a student of war, Catherina has learned the value of magic. Shedeems it simple, good planning to have at least one mage in the field withthe soldiers and regards magic as a tool. A means to an end, just likea sword, a gun or a fist. Similarly, she values information and doesn'thesitate to gather it herself if she feels so inclined.
Mother is Dutchess Dellenay of Grevwelle (a formidable province in theAvalon that Benedict took over--where Corwin found him). The Dutchess isan intelligent, wealthy, strong willed woman that Benedict widowed. Catherinahas/had three older brothers: Michael, Alexander and Joseph. One (Alexander)died in combat and she's considered killing Joseph herself. Her oldestbrother, Michael, has always been her favorite and the one she gets alongwith best. Her neices and nephew look forward to her visits and she spendsa great deal of time in Avalon.
She customarily dresses in heavy riding boats, leggings, and a highcollared shirt under a tunic of chain-mail. Over the chain mail she wearsa black tabard bearing her family's coat of arms. The chainmail is a conjureditem.
The Shield: The Grevwell coat of arms was the griffen on a green andwhite background and done in green and white. All reversed, but the halveswere not dove tailed together, it was a straight edge. Caddy's was changedto reflect her heritage and honors she'd earned in combat.
The Crest: Mounted on the helm... the crest is a pair of mantled, goldgriffin wings.

Too old to be a girl, but perhaps younger than she seems. Straight, pale blonde hair, striking, gray-green eyes that catch the shadows as easilyas the light. She stands on the half-circle landing in front of a heavy, iron bound oak door. Massive stone walls of some unknown keep fill therest background, leaving you nothing to look at but the uncompromisingyoung woman facing you.
A long talbard hangs over chainmail, furling slightly in the same lightbreeze that stirs her long hair. Heavier metal plates guard her thighsand arms as gauntlets protect her hands, and heavy well oiled boots coverher feet. A wide, dark leather belt holds the talbard in place just belowthe crest; a unicorn and griffin back to back, each rampant in green, whiteand gold. From the belt hangs an empty scabbard.
She stand with her shoulders squared, her feet shoulder width apart, her hands one on top of the other on the hilt of the double-edged longsword that is planted firmly in the rock at her feet. She does not smile. She does not frown. There is wisdom and age in her eyes but they revealnothing more then the closed door behind her.
